    Shutting off transducer signal.

I have Lowrance and garmin electronics on my boat and there are times that I want to silence the transducer pings but shutting all the way down is a pain. Does standby mode shut off transducers or just the screen?

On Lowrance units you can just choose 'stop sonar'. The unit stays on if you still want to use it for mapping, or whatever.

Standby on Lowrance does not stop sonar. You must go into the menus and stop sonar manually.

On my Garmin 1022 to stop the sonar...menu, transmit sonar, select disable. When I do that the screen stays up so when I want to turn sonar back on all I do is simply select enable and hit exit to go back to my normal screen. It takes me less than 5 seconds for me to turn mine off and only a couple seconds to turn it back on and be back to normal.
