    Stratos 258 and a Jackplate

Hi guys. I was hoping some of you could offer opinions. I have a '97 Stratos 28 with a 70hp Johnson on the back. Its a good little boat and keeps me on the water while I save a bit to graduate into a larger Stratos. On calm water and trimmed up just right, I can get 40mph out of it. I have a friend that offered me a manual jackplate. What would be the benefit of installing the jackplate? Would I get an increase in speed? That's really my only goal at this point. Thank you in advance for some "pernters."

Don't think you will gain very much top end speed. I could be wrong. Not sure it would be worth it for the potential gain. What is the max hp that hull is rated for ?

Its rated for a 70hp but in the following year, Stratos upped it to 90hp.

I wouldn't do it. Be content and wait till you can upgrade.

I think I'll keep it as is. Thanks for the advice.

Well it LOOKS cool. It my also change the way your boat trims out at low speed making it difficult to go slow and see over the bow.
