Question Transducer - Helix 12 4GN on trolling motor question

    I have a new Helix 12 DI 4GN. I mounted the transducer
to the trolling motor and it fits perfectly. I heard this transducer was made for use at the transom and I should expect interference when used on the trolling motor. Also heard there's a different transducer I should consider that will provide the performance without the interference. Is there any truth to this? Seems strange but the info came from a source who stays up to date on technology. Thanks.

My transducer is the one that came with the Helix 12 (XM 9 HW MDI T)

No one knows if any trolling motor attached transducer will result in RFI issues==every installation is unique.
Some transducers are suitable for both transom and trolling motor mounting.
There is only one for the Helix 9, 10, 12, and 15. The one that comes with a display has a transom mount, Humminbird has a trolling motor adapter for it.
If you get the AD MTM HW MDI, that comes with a battery charger choke.
If you order the transducer with the trolling motor mount XTM model, it also comes with the battery charger choke.

Thanks for the info. How do I know if I need one with the battery choke?

My mount bracket did come with the battery choke. When I look up the instructions, it shows splicing the battery choke into the battery charger cables. Is this right? Thanks again.

It's purpose is to block RFI from the trolling motor that can pass through the battery charger if the battery charger is connected to the trolling motor battery/s and the battery that supplies voltage to the units.

    Follow the installation instructions.

Will do. Thank you. I assume the MK chargers don't have a built-in battery choke?
