    Ned rig baits?

How many feel that your baits made from the do-it midwest finesse lure mold or cut down baits made from a senko style mold with regular plastisol can compete with zmans? If so do you add floatant material or anything else? I add a skirt to mine a lot of times for a different look & to add a little action. Also what are other molds that make baits that perform well on a ned head?

I think the floating plastic is far superior.... If I made them, I'd consider MF Bounce EasyFloat"BOUNCE (pouryourownworms.com)

I can catch fish on my homemade sticks cut in half but not as well as when I use TRDs.

I have the Midwest mold and YES I catch as many as I did with the Z Man TRD. I do use bubbles in mine to make them stand up.
I also make skinny stix in 4” and make them with bubbles.. works for me

Tim, I have a gallon of bubbles myself. How much would you put to 4 ounces plastic & do you have to add a lot more colorant? Thanks

The smallmouth liked the red bug Midwest finesse bait I made last night. I never got bit on anything else including the zman finesse & big t r d. Only bites I had were on my stuff.

I do miss the durability of the Zman stuff. I have weight MF Bounce and other regular floating plastics out of an Angling AI stick worm mold and here are the weights:

Dead On Feather Soft Floating 9.2 g grams
Dead On Feather Worm: 9.3 g
Dead On Feather Swimbait 9.2 g

    MF Bounce Soft 9.0 grams
    MF Bounce Medium 9.0 grams
    MF Super Soft 9.1 grams

    BaitPlastics 242 Medium: 9.0 grams

So, I would say stick with your favorite plastic since there is minimal difference in weight on the floating stuff. I bought a 5 gallons of BP 242 which will last me a long time. But, I think it might tear more easily than the MF Bounce did. Hard to say since I did not really compare side by side. I like the MF stuff but it is more expensive for sure. I really like the Easy Stretch for sinking lures (it is pretty tough).

I liked the looks of that one too. Enough that I bought the mold.

My shakey mold is 6” but I cut it down to 3.3 for NED. It is very similar and has a diamond tail. Works good for me.

I'd thought about possibly buying the caney creek glider.

That one works too. I may need to stop buying molds.

Has anyone used a leech bait on a Ned rig and if so how did it work?

The old Manns Stingray grub makes a good Ned bait.
