In my humble opinion, which means jack shit, there is a sizeable difference between hunting over a feeder, and making improvements to your property that make it more hospitable for the deer.

I was under the impression that white deer were not a good thing and needed to be shot? Seems I remember something about them being prone to passing on genes that made the deer population more susceptible to disease.

What if I plant food plots to use as a feeder for deer, after all they are called food plots.

I grew up where baiting is illegal, so I don’t like it. Had I grown up where it was legal I’d be ok with it more than likely.

Personally wouldn’t shoot a white deer regardless.

Don’t understand all the hate. If no laws were broken, congratulations. It’s almost like he posted this on PITA’s website. Same guys bitching about his unethical methods in their eyes, probably has all the latest gadgets on their boats.

Pretty big difference, in my opinion at least, between planting a crop of alfalfa or whatever it is that deer eat, for them to come and go to, and having a feeder that turns on at X time every day so you can influence even the timing of the deer's movements.

There was a special archery hunt on one of the overpopulated Maine islands years ago. In the village was a tame buck. So tame that they were able to spray paint his antlers orange and put up posters asking not to shoot him. "That guy" shot him anyways. The orange antlers probably made him easier to find.

Pretty cool deer. I just don’t think I could ever shoot a white one. Just so few, I just don’t think I could do it. It would be like eating a 10lb bass to me. She took it legal though, so all is good. Very nice deer. Hopefully they mount it to enjoy it for years.

I think it's just a location thing. Those of us who can hunt over bait don't see anything wrong with it. And those who can't don't see how we can. It's no big deal. I think it's a cool take. Not sure if I could pull the trigger on it or not but it really is a miracle that it made it to maturity. Nature is hard to survive and being a genetic freak makes it harder.

Fyi, this deer isn't an albino...note the nose and the eyes...they're not pink...this deer is a totally white piebald. Here's the link...

I got no problem with taking a white deer that I assume tastes the same. Hunting over bait does not sit well with me though.

Why do 99% of people who are supposed to know something about deer call piebald deer albinos?

Same reason they claim their buck weighed 250 pounds but probably closer maybe 150.

There's a entire separate deer altogether up Virginia way that is white on some army base I think...I remember stories about them in American Hunter back when American Hunter was worth reading..
