New Ultrex in 2020. 112lb thrust, 36V, I-pilot

I have had the circuit board replaced and the foot control part that was causing other owners issues.

My problem is that the trolling motor will "lock" up sporadically, meaning I can't move the foot pedal hardly at all. It just happens out of the blue every now and then. I will raise the trolling motor up and stow it in position and that mostly "unlocks" the foot pedal for some mysterious reason. Sometimes it takes several times doing this before it "unlocks" and returns to normal operating condition. Cables don't seem to be in any kind of bind and I don't see anything obvious that point as the problem maker.

Has anyone experienced this ?? If so, what was your fix to stop it. Kinda pissed this is happening on a new boat and I have already had it in twice to address the same issue.

I had the same issue, take it to a factory authorize repair place, there is a screw that has come loose in the steering knuckle on the inside and it is jamming it up. when you stow it the screw is falling out of the place it is lodged. It will be a warranty replacement. Mine did this very exact thing and they replaced the steering unit free of charge.

where your cables drive the gears that steer the trolling motor.

Have you checked your power switch on foot pedal to be sure its all the way on? I was having issues as well. Switch had a loose wire.

Yes sir I did. Everything there seems to be tight and intact

My Ultrex did something similar when the steering sensor died. It'd work intermittently, then finally died altogether. The cables don't actually turn the head like a traditional TM. They just turn solenoids that actuate the motors that turns the shaft.

All i know is that it is frustrating on a new TM to have this happen, then to mysteriously go away, then re-occur somewhere down the road for no apparent reason.

It’s probably the control board in the foot pedal mine did this when it was brand new never in the water. Does the remote work when the foot pedal don’t??? If yes than its^. Take it to a service center they can fix it in 15min it’s pretty common unfortunately

I have replaced the steering sensor and the control board in the foot pedal as I mentioned in the original post. And no, the remote won't work when the foot pedal was locked up
