Question All around hunting shotgun... what would you buy?

If you were looking for a new all around hunting semi-auto shotgun what would you buy? I have shot a Benelli Super Black Eagle a lot and that is what I am leaning towards but don't want to rule out anything. Lets say budget is $2k max and preferably would like to stay around $1,500. This is going to be used for clay shooting, dove hunting, rabbits, squirrels, turkey etc. I know that is a lot of variance but I would like to have one gun to work for most things.

Citori O/U. Oh wait, I already have one. I also have a mint Wingmaster 870 that just never leaves the case so I don't see a need for a semi-auto.

Sorry I was of no help, sometimes I just like to hear myself type.

Super X4 or a Silver 3" chamber since you are wanting to shoot lighter loads. I shoot a SX3 3" and its by far my favorite shotgun I've shot.

Beretta Xtreme 400 Plus . True gas system that will keep functioning when filthy. Doesn't kick, comes with all the bells and whistles and will do ANYTHING you ask of it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. I will look into all of them. I guess I need to do some research on the difference in a gas system vs inertia. Is the biggest thing felt recoil or what? I was reading another thread here where you guys were talking about this with waterfowl loads. Also I just remembered since I do some business with Beretta, I believe I can get somewhat of a discount on them. I will have to check into that some more.

Three B's......Browning, Beretta, Benelli. I have a Beretta A300 that I use for trap and the recoil is really light compared to other semi's and O/U's. There's a few models that are less than your budget giving you more money for ammo...when you can find it.

Beretta is hard to beat for a multi purpose shotgun that will fulfill all of your plans.

I’ve owned a Winchester Super X2, and currently have a Benelli SBE2. Would personally look at Beretta A400 if I was buying now. Inertia guns are OK, but I prefer the softer recoil of a gas gun.

I would choose pump to do it all but if a semiauto is a must I would go with a Beretta or Browning gas gun.

I’m a big SBE fan but I would say I’m impressed by the durability of my buddies Browning Maxxus…. He’s probably as hard on things as you can be and this gun seems to just keep cycling. I personally haven’t put a lot of rounds through it but I’m impressed how well it’s performed and held up.

My first pick would be a Beretta A-400.
    next Browning Maxus.
Third Benelli because of the inertia drive system and you said you wanted to shoot
    sporting clays.

One thing I would suggest is to see if you can find some place to shoot them to see how they feel.
I believe the feel and how a shotgun swings is the most important thing.
    Good luck on your search.

    Why settle for only one?
Skeet gun/ Dove / Quail. Beretta silver pigeon
or a Weatherby gold trigger in 20

Thrn you need a duck gun and a turkey gun and a home defense gun and a slug gun and a boat gun.

So I have been doing some video research and reading. One thing so far I don’t like on the Beretta is the button you have to push in under the bolt on the backside of the slide? Not sure what to call it. Honestly I had never considered a Browning but watching some reviews on the Maxus has me changing my mind some. I am going to have to find somewhere I can put my hands on both of them.

Get an older 1100, from late 80's or early 90's then get multiple barrels and use it for all kinds of different shooting, that's what I do. Trap barrel, skeet, 28" field barrel, slug barrel, etc...

    Benelli Montefeltro if you don’t need 3.5”. It’s a great shooting/handling shotgun.

Thank you. I really don’t need 3.5” so maybe I should also be looking into guns like this one. I think they now offer a 3” SBE as well.

Give the Browning Silver an honest look.
