Lake Erie trip last week of sept or late October?

I have to burn some extra vacation time off by year end so looking at last minute trip last week of Sept or last 2 weeks of October.
coming up from Virginia. Any suggestions on time or area I should consider

Last 2 weeks of October is the way to go. The smallies venture back into the bay then. So if the lake gets rough u can still duck into the bay and catch the smallies. Tight lines.

If the weather is bad skip Erie and fish the Yough, you are going to be surprised.
