Anyone have an idea why livewells would start filling by themselves? Is there a valve that could be stuck?
On my z8 (2015) if I have the drain shut water will come in the fill hole unless I screw it shut when I put the boat in reverse. Same with overflows, I went to Home Depot and got some rubber stoppers to plug them. And then the pump outs when coming off plane get a little water each time in them and then it starts coming in. I plug them on the transom with a livewell plug I found at a bait shop.

Do you have the drain plug inserted the drain hole in the bottom of the livewell? If not gravity will always fill it some as the fill plumbing and part of the livewell are below the water line. Also it can bring in water when reversing through the overflow if you back up fast enough.
If you are using the factory plug replace it with one of these...
