    1997 200hp Mercury Outboard Problem

    Hi all,

I was out yesterday, boat struggled to get on pad, then would only do 45mhp. Took her down to idle and checked the exhaust water. It was hot so I shut it down thinking it was overheating. In doing some research I believe I may have been incorrect about the overheating, because the thermostat is rated for over 100F. Think instead it may be an electrical issue as the previous owner replaced the stator coil this year. Starts, Idles, just has about 2/3 power which makes me think there is a couple of cylinders not firing.

I am going to check the fuel system, and cooling system. Does anyone have any thoughts?
