    2021 or 22 ZX150 performance

Friend of mine new to fishing went and looked at a new ZX 150. What kind of top speed and low end performance should he expect... real nice looking combo for under $40K.

Looking at the former TZX190 and ZX190 with Yamaha SHO 150's likely high 50's, that would include fuel/tackle/2 people and live wells full. 150 has the 2.0 gearcase so if holeshot is good you may be able to pitch up slightly and get a couple more MPHs if you can reach max RPM with stock prop and normal load but that is about it outside of tweaking jackplate.

Pastor Jamie sounds like you guys made the move way to go! 58mph is about right with a load and 2 people. The zx150 has been coming 2.25” (8-9dots) up on the slidemaster jackplate and we found moving it down to 1”3/4-1”7/8 (6-7dots) helped keep water pressure when full trim, improve holeshot being a little more submerged and improved handling without cavitation. As well brought the rpms down slightly to 5800-6000. Last model year zx190 hydraulic plate 1 person light load 24P tempest 64.1mph 6200rpms. Much better holeshot as well. The zx150 is a very capable machine good luck and enjoy.

awesome I’m pretty happy with it. I was having issues at low speeds it cavitation some. I just figured out leave it trimmed down when going around 25-35 in rough water. I’m pretty sure mine came form the dealer at 7 dots but I’m definitely gonna go double check. Any more sped would be awesome. I do think the weight limit of the boat is garbage lol. 4 people 570. (I think) I don’t know four people who weight that combined unless there under 12 lol

I’ve seen 60 with perfect condition but honestly run mine low 50’s normal use. The boat handles rough water well for its size. I had my heart set on a 20’ but it would not fit in my garage. I have no regrets and used the same xtra money I would have spent on a larger boat to upgrade electronics and trolling motor
