Need help! 1997 Mariner 200 EFI Won’t start.

    Hey everyone,

Just picked up my boat that has been sitting for about 10 years… I’m in the military and finally got the opportunity to pick it up and get some use out of it. Anyways

Boat: 1997 champion 191 dcx elite
    Motor: 1997 mariner 200 EFI S/N 0G570204

Having some issues getting it running. It cranks just fine. Sometimes it will turn over but dies immediately.

So far I've replaced the plugs and put a new fuel filter. I took off the VST and cleaned it the best I could
Looks a lot better then it did.

    where can I start?

    -Compression Test

    -Spark Test

-Fuel Quality, Pressure, and Delivery Tests.

Very likely that every component of the fuel system is compromised from sitting.

Checked compression had 90 PSI everywhere.

    Had spark on all 6

I assume fuel quality is good. I completely drained old fuel that was sitting in the boat and pump about 20 fresh gallons of fuel in.

not sure how to test pressure and delivery.

New hoses is about mandatory IMO. New fuel as well if you didn’t drain the tank.

Figured it out. When I cleaned the VST the float got stuck in place and wasn’t letting fuel in. Fixed that she started right up.

    thanks everyone for the replies.

Is there anything else you all recommend doing before taking it out to the lake.
