I own both the daiwa BG and the Shimano Nasci. I own multiple of each while the daiwa bg’s are a bit heavier they are awesome solid reels. On the other hand I also love my shimano nascis. Both are smooth as butter and have been through the ringer.

My vote is for the Daiwa BG. A little heavier but a solid reel. Can be found at times for less than $100.

You might even go down in price and try the new Shimano Nexave. A really good reel for the money. You will be surprised.

They are all great reels. I would look at them and see what feels best to you. I think the BG is probably the heaviest but built like a truck. The Fuego is compact and very light. The NASCI has been redesigned for 2022 but looks like a great reel too. The NASCI does not have an optional switch on the anti-reverse, but the Daiwa's do if that feature is important to you.

I've seen too many posts about the fuego flexing to want to try one. Tough to find a supreme xt for 100

At $100 the fuego, under $100 the daiwa exceler. It’s a fuego with 1 less bearing & no magseal. It’s the lowest priced daiwa with an aluminum screw in handle. I picked up several for less than $60ea., I think they retail around $80. The whole frame flex deal on the daiwas is much ado about nothing imo, I’m no engineer but common sense would seem to say a structure that gives a little is less prone to snapping than a rigid structure (I know that’s an over simplified argument). I’ve never read of the frame flex causing an actual problem or of anyone breaking one, the problem is only in peoples heads. For light to medium duty freshwater bassin I’ve never had an issue with exceler or fuegos.

Add me to the BG camp! Fuego is smooth but flexes. The BG is unreal for a $100 reel.

Fuego 100% I have 3. All perform well, extremely smooth drag and have had no issues two years in fishing 1-3 times a week.

I have a Pfluger Supreme XT/ Fuego/ Nasci. Nasci wins if weight doesn't matter.
