    Meatloaf on the grill

I'm not sure when or if I'll ever cook meatloaf in the oven again. Cooked over oak charcoal.

That's good stuff. Also try putting some ketchup in a small pan and place it in the grill on the cool side. Smoke flavor gets in it to

Favorite way to make it in our house. We mix 50/50 ground beef and seasoned pork sausage. Sometimes add mushrooms and onions.

I do smoked meat loaf quite a bit. Look up Alton Brown's recipe on youtube. He uses bbq chips as a binder instead of bread crumbs. It's amazing.

The grill was showing about 300-310 degrees. It's a small grill so I put the loaf on a baking rack with a pan underneath then it all goes on the grill rack above the coals.

BBQ meatloaf, 1/2 pork, 1/2 turkey ground meat. Mix one cup of your favorite BBQ sauce, 1 egg Salt, Pepper, little garlic powder and little panko for a binder. Form loaf cover/roll with bacon and sprinkle with brown sugar. When bacon is done smooth more BBQ sauce over the bacon. Enjoy, thank me later.

I do mine on the smoker, 350’F, usually takes about 1hr to do a 2# loaf. Go for 160’F internal temp.

If my pit was bigger I'd try 350 also. That's what I would use in the oven.

That's the only way to cook a meatloaf!! I mix all the ingredients, form it and put it back in the fridge for a couple hours. The loaf "sets up" and holds it shape. I put the loaf directly on the gill grates with indirect heat. I want the rendered fat dripping out of the loaf. Once the internal temp reaches 145, I'll put it directly over the coals for 10 minutes to crisp the bottom.

Same here, only way we make meat loaf now. If fact, now that I think about it I got hosed on this one. Mama used to make meat loaf.

But all joking aside, meat loaf on the Recteq can't be beat. Try Ritz crackers in place of bread crumbs or panko, you won't be disappointed.

I use Townhouse crackers, the buttery flavor is unique.
