Hello everyone. Back again. Serial listed above starts great, idles a little rough. Two ongoing issues, idle rises after running a few minutes, AND, hole sot is rough….very slow. Once up on plane mid range and top end are great. Prop is a Tempest 25 on a 196 Champion. One other thing I noted is the engine seems to be warmer than I have experienced in the past (weep hole) but have ample water pressure throughout the RPM range. In an effort to get things “right” with the motor, below is all recent work completed (within a month)
New water pump kit and seals. All three gaskets changed.
New Mercury thermostats, 143F
New low pressure fuel pump (mercury) with new fuel lines and proper clamps
New fuel line from tank to engine, new primer bulb and proper clamps.
Compression check, 130+/- 2 psi all cylinders
Fuel pressure check (on hose) 34 PSI idle, 32 after 30 seconds, 30 after 60 seconds.
Spark Check, all wires jumping a 7/16” gap on CDI 8 post tester
Glass reeds, injectors cleaned.
Have NOT changed plugs yet…they look a tad rough and will post pics tomorrow…will change them soon.
Any thoughts on what I may be missing or overlooking above?
