    Steering Column Leaking

I just noticed some leaking coming from the back of the steering wheel. The steering wheel says Schmitt on it. Any ideas what column this would be so I can order new seals? I read that is a common issue when you see leaks from the steering wheel.

The wheel manufacturer is irrelevant, you need to see who made the column. Look under the console for a name and model number or the name might be on the cylinder at the engine. I assume you have hydraulic steering?

Yea its hydraulic steering, its a johnson outboard. Ill get a look at the column later when I finish installing my killswitch tonight.

Just an update now that I'm working on the boat after getting it out of storage.

It was the SeaStar steering shaft seal behind the steering wheel. Easy fix!
