Pleased with my X Bolt so far

Stated working on getting my X Bolt HC sighted in. .300 WSM, Leupold VX-5 HD. Using 150 grain CoreLokt to break in the barrel. First shot was a little high so I made some adjustments. I was very pleased with the next 4 shots. Hopefully I can results like this from other loads as well. 100 yards btw.

How about a picture of the hammer? I keep dreaming of a X bolt hells canyon max long range.

Per fishysam. Hell’s Canyon Speed Long Range. Not the best pic but it’s too hot to go outside.

Appreciate the replies. Thinking of getting a regular HC Speed in 7mm/08.

Have heard really good things about the X-bolt. Would be on my short list if I was shopping.

Whitetail, elk, and hopefully mule deer one day. And I just really like rifles.

I love my X-Bolts. They pattern well and the ergonomics are about as good as they come.

I put a MCARBO trigger spring kit in my xbolt and made it a real shooter. 800yds so far is my max, looking to go 1000 here soon. Love the xbolt.

I also installed the MCARBO spring. My trigger pull is 1.5 pounds. Love it.

I have a question about your X-bolt. I know it's supposed to be an improvement over the A-bolt, I have several A-bolts and I am now considering a X-bolt in .300 Win Mag. How do you like the trigger and how soft is the recoil pad? Do you think both are up to the task or do they need upgrades?

I used to own a Stainless Stalker A Bolt in .300 WSM and traded it in on Benelli SBE 12 gauge. Big mistake. I did put a Simms Limbsaver recoil pad on the A Bolt and it really helped. The recoil pad on the X Bolt is a really good pad and I’d say that it’s better than the factory pad on the A Bolt, no doubt. As far as triggers go, the factory X Bolt trigger was like 4 and a half pounds. Definitely needed work. I went with the MCARBO spring kit and now my trigger is 1 and a half pounds, has no creep, and is very consistent. I love it. So I’d say no update is needed for the recoil pad but definitely needed for the trigger. The factory trigger is adjustable but still needs work. Overall, I like the X Bolt better than the A Bolt but I sure wouldn’t mind having my old A Bot back. They are great rifles. I did order another Browning yesterday though. A regular Hell’s Canyon Speed in 7mm-08. It will take a while to get it but I don’t mind waiting at all.

I have X Bolt in 270 and love it. A real comfortable gun. It seems it’s a little more ammo sensitive than my Remington 700’s but once I found a round it likes, it’s very accurate every shot. I’m going to look into MCARBO trigger kits because the factory trigger is good enough for hunting but not great like others are saying.

The mcarbo spring is $12, best $12 you can spend and beats paying $200 for an aftermarket trigger.

Get a scale a measure your trigger pull before and after.
