    Bow reinforcement?

Has anyone reinforced the bow shroud and how? I have dual 12’s mounted on precision sonar double stack but the only thing that holds the whole shroud on is 4 screws. Seems like a major weak point. This is on a 18 21phx.

I was concerned also but haven't had an issue with running two 12s for 2 years now.

Depends 100% on what size body of water you fish on. Some have no issues. Some last 1 day. I’ve yet to see a legit fix for this. People add some screws but it’s really not fixing the problem.

I had 1 Helix 12 on an after market bow mount and that gave me issues after running bigger/rougher water for 2 years. I think the only thing you can do is add more screws, but doing so does seem to work. My 2022 721 arriving in October will have a bridge mount for dual graphs over the trolling motor.

It’s kind of a horrible design

I have a Solix 12 and 10 inch Garmin ultra and worried about the strength so I laid a couple layers of glass on the back side with a couple extra layers where the screws are mounted. I also added fender washers to the screws so its impossible for them to just pull through. Solid as a rock now.

I bought some of the black caps and put 3 more screws through it. It's not a total fix, but it is a little more solid.

What 920Screaming posted is the mount I will be using on my new 721. Besides the screws backing out on the shroud, the plastic that molds the shroud on the backside started cracking. Some cracks were random and some were near the screw holes. I wish they would glass all the boats like the elites and PHX.

A while back one of our fellow Phoenix Owners did a small write up on how he reinforced the console and bow shrouds... Below is a short summary of what he did for the bow shroud.

    1. Added 4-8 additional screws.
    2. Removed all screws and bow shroud.
    3. Epoxied small (say 1" x 1" to 2" x 2") sections of plastic (cutting board) behind fiberglass where bow shroud screws come through. Held sections of plastic in place using bow shroud screws.
    4. Waited a day for epoxy to set and put everything back together.

I did something similar with my console and plan to do the same for my bow.

I built an aluminum frame at the bow. I have a stack mount and external plate coming. I am going to tap holes in the frame and use 1/4 -20 cap screws (threaded) to sandwich the shroud between the plate and frame. I also reinforced the starboard and port screw holes in the shroud with epoxy and a washer to prevent cracking.IMG_0201.jpgIMG_0200.jpg

Before I went to the new fiberglass bow shroud I did something similar to Knopf - just not quite as nicely done! The new bow panel I bought has been rock solid and not moved one bit.

For spending 60k or more on these boats, you shouldn't have to do this fix. This is ridiculous. Phoenix needs to address this issue. I'm about to decide between a new 819 pro, or bass cat, and these are the kind of things that make a difference. Yea it's small, but it's quality.

All these pics and ideas look good but they look like they are all on 900 series boats. The 721 is narrower up there and when I tried the Precision "over the trolling petal" model I could not get to all of the petal with my foot. Has anyone seen anything for the 721's.............other than get a 921

i bought the str8 up mount, and I turned it at the angle the shroud is and it worked. When I get it installed on my 2022 721 I can provide pictures. I set the mount up on another 721 to make sure it would work and it does. I have the 5” version but the 7” would work even better.
