Still have some of his jigs ..
I remember watching a TV show he used to do with Ron Franklin from ESPN. It was a really good TV show. If I remember right Lonnie used to always run Skeeter/Yamaha. I remember years ago him on an aluminum boat with a Yamaha 100 4 stroke. At that time nobody was even thinking 4 stroke, but he kept going on about how quiet it was, that was my first time seeing a 4 stroke even on fishing program on TV.
RIP Mr. Stanley
Just yesterday, I was going through my spinnerbait rack and came across a 20 year old Stanley Wedge with a bad skirt band. I wrapped it with some wire and saved the skirt. I'll fish it the next time out in his honor.
Don't worry Ma'am....
I'm only here for the Bass.
He will be missed, very sad to hear RIP Lonnie
I met him and talked to him a few times in Tyler Texas. Very nice man, our sport lost another good one.
I started using Arkie jigs in the 60's...but when Lonnie started making his jigs, I started using them. Great jig. Used to fish with Lonnie's cousin....Dyess. Those guys knew Toledo Bend. Prayers for all of Lonnie's loved ones.
My intro to jig fishing was with Stanley Jigs nearly 40 years ago. I'll have one tied on Sunday. Thanks Lonnie. RIP
Mike, you are right his show with Franklin was very good.
