    Bass fishing Rend lake

I am a crappie fisherman and started fishing Rend last fall some and a lot this year mostly the stumps on north end of lake. We mostly fish a jig tipped with a minnow. Just can't believe we have never caught a largemouth of any size! Is Rend that poor of a bass lake? Would think with the shad and all the crappie in the lake that the bass fishing would be pretty good?? Just wondering.

Nope, its not very good at all. Occasionally there is a 15lb limit weighed in by a local that has honey holes but in general, no, it is not a good bass fishing lake.

According to IDNR the over abundance of crappie have hurt the development of the smaller bass starved them out kind of so as the years went on it hurt the overall population.

It also doesn't help that the entire lake, for the most part, is just a big bowl. Not much at all for depth contours/drop offs/etc.
