Smallmouth from the bank in Mishawaka

Never caught a smallmouth always wanted to and I will be in the area for about a month for work and was wondering if anyone could help me out with where to start to catch a smallmouth. I’m working on the Saint Joseph River and it looks great but just don’t know where to go. I’m not asking for your specific location but was curious if there is anywhere better to walk the bank and try to catch my first smallmouth. Thanks a lot

Try the North bank from Main St. to Logan St. that's the deep side. You can fish the south side at Kamm's Island it has better access to bank fishing but is shallow. Also Monkey Island by Eberhart golf course.
