Laughing out load. I didn't think it would be that easy. Ok, ok. Thanks again for the help.

I took the box apart finally. These are the parts that are damaged: #29
— 397272 — SHIFT & THROTTLE PLATE ASSY.
I tried to upload pics but it is not allowing. file too large.

Not sure why the plastic broke. With cable disconnected from both ends: I can move cable from both ends by hand easily. I can shift the gears with the shift arm on engine while spinning the prop with my foot. Going to try new plate and shift arm in the side mount controller.

Put new plate and shift arm in today. Changed gears good while spinning prop. Water test tomorrow hopefully.
I shifted without spinning prop when I removed LU and I think that is what probably initiated or completely caused the damage. Expensive lesson.

Not able to go out on the water today. I did put it on muffs though and it shifted good. Thanks for the help

Hello everybody,
Finally did get my boat running good. Replaced flywheel magnets, stator, power pack, vacuum switch, and other smaller items. I still
couldn't get to start and so I did take it to a mechanic. They replaced the VRO and there was a carb issue. But I am not sure still why it wouldn't start.
So now I have a new unfamiliar item. There is white plastic pieces just inside my water intact holes on the LU for the water cooling system. Does anybody know what they are?
ChampioNman has pointed out that I have an older LU swapped to my outboard so I don't know the part number to look up.
Thank you

More than likely the water intake screens behind the inlet.
