    Seat Post Bushing

The bottom of the bushing in the seat post receiver keeps breaking. I am on my third set in 12 months. Vexus doesn't have an updated solution so I am trying one of my own.
This is a 5/16 thick bronze thrust washer that I have glued in place at the bottom of the bushing. I hope that it will give it more stability so the bottom doesn't break out again.

Mine did that last week. Do you have to replace the whole setup?

Call Vexus. They will send replacement bushing kits. Not hard to do.

I’m not thrilled with the seat posts. I prefer the threaded post over this snap in style.

It works great, just hammer the bushing in with a rubber mallet. This bushing is not threaded, it just accepts a non-threaded seat post. No problems removing seat post at all.

My front and rear seat posts bushings in my Ranger has done the same. I haven't fixed them and have had no issues with the seats wanting to come out in rough water on Rayburn, Toledo Bend, or Galveston Bay (Z21 Intracoastal). I'm tall enough that i can remove the seats from outside the boat. Just perusing this page for my next boat. Really liking the 21.

I've got a kit being sent my way and I'm a bit confused as to how to remove the broken insert. I've read that I should be using a chisel? Does this mean I need to essentially keep breaking the insert into pieces? How did you remove yours?

Take a fine tooth hacksaw blade. Cut a groove in the bushing from top to bottom. If it doesn't pop out take a flat blade screwdriver and pry it out. If you have an air powered hacksaw tool you will be done in less than 5 minutes.

An update on the modified bushing: It is holding up just fine. It is very stable and has been tested to 250 lb.

What if I weight 251? Haha.

I have this issue on my non Vexus boat so I'm interested in the solution.

Kenny, so my name is Tim and I have solved the problem with the seat pedestal bushing! I have made new bushing replacements for my boat, which is a 2020 Vexus 1980. The bushings are made from a extremely tough plastic called Delrin. I donít think the washer will work. Problem with the factory bushing is that it has way to much slop. And the side to side movement brakes the extremely thin floor thickness of the factory bushing. I am on my third set of bushings also. Just replaced with the new ones and they are amazing. This is the last bushing you will ever need! Call if interested, I have went over this with Steve at vexus. If you guys are having problems with pedestal bushings call me, I Have The Fix !! Call Tim at 314-954-0264 leave a message and a number and I will call you back!

Awesome! A picture would be great. After the better part of a season of hard fishing, the 5/16" thick bronze thrust washer has held up fine. There is still the issue of the I.D. of the the bushing being a little too large though.
