    Did something stupid

I was going tell sell 40 shares of SPY and answered the phone and got distracted. Accidentally bought 40 instead of selling 40. On the bright side that gave me another 100 shares since I had 260 so I just turned around and sold a slightly out of the money call. Think I will just keep them until they get assigned at some point. Note to self: Don't multitask when entering trades. I have made similar mistakes on share amounts but always caught them when I reviewed the order.

the good thing is that in the age of zero commissions it doesn't cost anything to sell it right away. Of course just make sure you select the lots you want to sell.

My broker confirmed they use the highest cost basis for the sales. I was thinking about writing calls on my SPY but have alot of capital gains if it got assigned so this sort of worked out I guess to let me write a call. Didn't really want to buy at record highs though

I am making more mistakes at work trying to multitask.

Don’t feel bad about this small mistake.

I know a person who bought Boeing when it got below $300.
Then Covid hit a few weeks later and Boeing dropped below $100.

Can you imagine how that guy feels?

But you'll probably get that $300 price back one day. I bought SQ at $70 and sold at $85.............I'll never get that back.

I don’t know how many times I have sold when I was trying to buy before a run. Whether you own shares or end up short it sucks. Gotta be extremely mindful when making trades

I made a similar mistake once. Instead of 1 NVDA contract bought at open, I got 10 Noticed that I was out of purchasing power and quickly figured out why. Thankfully, NVDA had a nice pop that day so the mistake turned out really well.

it is weird how Thinkorswim defaults to 10 contracts. I need to see if I can change a setting to have it default to 1 and adjust from that. I almost did the same thing

I was late to the TSLA boat, started buying after the split in the $300s, thinking I could average down for a year or more. Been chasing it every since, adding on every little dip. I have no intentions on ever selling. I know I'm crazy, but I think it pays a really good dividend in the future.
