Ok guys, been doing some research on Jerkbait rods, and seems to be a couple different scenarios. I am 5'9" tall, and will be fishing from my boat, not bank fishing. I really like the Abu Garcia Ike signature series Delay Rods, and they are in my budget rance too. I love my Daiwa as well, and saw a Daiwa Rod i liked as well, and was like $50 more than the Abu Garcia rod. It seems that common concensus is, somewheres between a 6'4" & 6'8" are ideal for Jerkbait rods. The Ike series Delay rod comes in a 6'4" & 6'8" Medium with Moderate action. I am fishing here in Central Florida. I guess what my question is, what are the pros & cons of the shorter rod VS the longer rod. Also, i have read, some people use like 30 Lb braid, do to the hydrilla and etc, and the braid helps rip the JB through the hydrilla. I have also read about using Fluorocarbon, and i am yet to do that on ANY of my set ups. If anything, i use Braid with a FC leader. Does FC react to a baitcasting reel, or does it leave a memory in the FC and cause problems casting or getting backlashes etc. I know FC is expensive to use strictly as my main line, but in Jerkbait fishing, are there any advantages/disadvantages to FC main line VS BRAID main line? What Lb test FC is good if i decide to use FC as my main line, and any specific brands better than the others? I use P-Line, Seaguar, etc, for my leader material, now. Hope i didn't ask too many question, and that someone will respond and give me some good solid advice, on what is best for Jerkbait fishing, here in Florida. Colors of the JB is also something i was wondering.
