My HDS 8 GEN 2 has white screened. My question is which available model can I replace it with. That will SYNC with HDS 7 Gen1 HDS 5 Gen 2?

HDS Gen 1/ Gen 2/ Gen 2 Touch all network well with ethernet. HDS Gwn 3 can be thrown in the mix as well, as long as it has older software like 7.0.
Thanks for the Info. So if I understand correctly, I can't replace it with a new one?
You will have issues if you connect a new unit to a Legacy unit such as yours. Stick with what TC recommended and you will be fine.

Like NoCal said, those units are by no means new, but they will network properly with other olde units. A new HDS will not.
The issue is finding one and trusting if it would be any good. Didn't realize how out of touch I have gotten. Since I bought the GEN 2.
On the more positive side, those units will be fairly cheap as well. Here is a list of the HDS-generations and their aprox screen-sizes. Keep in mind that a Gen 1 will not share mapping, the rest of them will.:
- HDS Gen 1 (5,7,8,10)
- HDS Gen 2 (5,7,8,10)
- HDS Gen 2 Touch (7,9,12)
- HDS Gen 3 (7,9,12)
- HDS Carbon (7,9,12,16)
- HDS Live (7,9,12,16)
Thanks to Team, still on one of my boats have a Lowrance HDS 8 Gen 2 unit with a HDI 200-50 transducer. Honestly have yet to find a system that will provide clearer images, hopping to find a sonar hub to add chirp, sold my spare sonar hubs to friends unfortunately. The 8' screen resolution is simply awesome. I like the 200 KHZ, with this transducer and its narrower cone angle, less dead space (dead band) compared to other 200 KHZ transducers. Side by side to the newer units only difference is networking, touch, mapping etc. Sonar is sonar in my opinion.
Wish I had kept my HDS8/LSS-1 to put on my new boat. Night and day better downscan than the new Lives I have now.
