    Xducer location

Ok fellas.. just ordered a Helix MDI and I will be putting next to my HDS .. the side image xducer for the Lowrance is located right side under Jack plate (fixed) factory rigged Skeeter ZX 200. Can they be mounted side by side or do I need to give them some distance because I will be running them simultaneously? Thx in advance...

A MEGA Down Imaging unit does 2D sonar and Down Imaging. Both of those are downward sonar functions so you won't be blocking side looking imaging technology unless your Lowrance has Side Scan. That would be physical blocking.

A current Humminbird MDI unit has HW CHIRP for 2D sonar in the 140-240 kHz range.
It has 455/800/1200 kHz for Down Imaging.

Like any two units no matter the brand and location on a boat, if they are broadcasting on same frequency/s they will cross-talk when their sonar pulses overlap. That is pretty much a sure thing with two transducers on the transom regardless of the depth.
