Frog bite should really be good. If you go south from the Lacrosse ramp about 3-5 miles(really not that far), you'll find all the backwater you could possibly fish on the IL side. Just mazes and mazes of backwater current with grass, weeds, and lily pads. It all looks good. It's nice that you don't have to run that far to get into the thick of it. You can also drive south out of Lacrosse and there is a ramp not real far down the road. That will put you in right in the middle of all the backwater.
Keep a trail going on your GPS mapping to make sure you can find your way out of there!!!!
