Question 2021 Tundra or 2021 Sierra??

Guys I'm in the market for a new truck. I'm still on my first truck I ever purchased a 2010 GMC Sierra SLE with 235,000 miles on it. I'll be needing a new one and I've narrowed it down to the Tundra for interior space or the Sierra based on looks and previously owning one for 11 years.

Which would you guys choose m

Toyota will likely be more reliable, but I would go with the sierra, especially with the 6.2.

I am a fan of the Tundra, best value 1/2 ton pickup.

That being said it would be hard to move away from a brand that served me well all those years.

Surprisingly I've never had any major issues with my current truck...just a pinhole leak in one of my transmission lines and regular oil changes which I do myself. I always routinely change my fluids and oils per the manual.

Now my wife has a 4runner and has never had any major work needed as well..so as for my personal first hand experience they've both been great.

Tundra. It was my last truck and I beat the hell out of that truck and it never failed me.

If fuel economy is a concern it's no contest with the GMC taking the win handily, even with the 6.2.

I drove a 2018 Tahoe home from Florida Sunday. It averaged 4 MPG better than the same trip in my 2018 Tundra.

You get it back on resale.

I gave up picking a truck for the MPG. Buy the truck that makes ya smile. They sure are easier to pay for when you like em.

The top average is 17 on the Silverado with either a 5.3 or 6.2. Tundra has averaged 14 forever.

Based on the samples, gas per gallon cost, etc...there is a 680.67 difference per year between them.

Great point! There's something about that sierra that makes me smile. It's a really nice looking truck!

You said you're still on your first truck you ever purchased; so I'm guessing you are younger. Is a kid in the cards in the future? Think about car seat space on the back seats.

I’ve had a 3 tundras and 1 Sierra with the 6.2. The Sierra needs the 6.2 to be comparable to the tundra. My Sierra with 6.2 had the motor lock up at 70,000 miles due to a valve spring breaking. My 3 tundras had no issues. The Sierra is a lot nicer for bells and whistles but they tundra is getting a new redesign for 2022 and I am sure will catch up. I will say that Sierra was the best ridding truck I have owned

Yeah I can't wait to see the full reveal of the 2022. Just not sure about the turbo V6...maybe time will tell

We decided to buy a new Chevy, before 100,000 it needed a new rearend and shortly after that a transmission. Bought her a Sequoia and never had an issue.
Bought me a Ford F150 and day 2 of owning it in the shop for 2 weeks tracing electric bugs. Found a bad connector and replaced the harness and continued with many other problems.
I figured it must of been a Monday truck.
Replaced it with a Tundra in 14 and I like my wife have been smiling ever since.

All you can do is buy the one you like the best and hope to be smiling at the end.

If you're planning to keep it for a long time, 21 tundra. If you'll only have it a few years, Sierra. If your current truck is still going and you're not in a hurry, wait for the 22 models to come out. The gms are supposed to get an interior refresh and we'll finally get to see what all the new tundra will offer. If you don't like the new options a leftover 21 can still be had.

If you can swing it at all, sell your current truck now and wait to buy a new one after the prices get back to a normal level with better rebates.

I just test drove a Silverado with the 6.2 and it's a beast. The closest thing I've driven since my 2013 Tundra that I (mistakenly) traded in a Suburban with the 5.3. The Sub is nice, but it's a dog compared to the Tundra 5.7. You have a hard choice. You'll get better gas mileage and more bells and whistles for your money with the GMC, but it's hard to argue against Toyota reliability.

I got a 2018 sierra and the transmission had to be rebuilt at 19k miles. GM quality seems to be going downhill, this will be my last GM product likely.

I reluctantly bought a 2018 Tundra due to the gas mileage. I get 17 combo driving and have seen 18+ repeatedly on long interstate trips. Towing my boat, it gets 14.5-15. I do not let the big dog eat too much and keep interstate speeds at 70-72 all the time. I ease out from Stop signs and traffic lights. I am more than happy with this truck. I came from an 05 Tundra and the ‘18 is better in every way.

I notice a HUGE difference between my wife’s driving and mine. She accelerates it like a 4 banger and pushes 80 all the time. The MPG with her sucks!

Basically same with me. I had a 2017 Tundra Limited and now a 2020 1794 both with the TRD Off Road package (18" wheels vs 20" only real factor) and that was what I was getting mileage wise. My 17 I put LT Ridge Grapplers at around 20k and lost about 1mpg average my 20 got LT Trail Grapplers at 6k which are pretty heavy and I went down about 3mpg average combo driving but can get about 17 straight highway driving. I'm 36 but drive like I'm 66 lol. Both trucks I went with 275/70-18 vs 275/65-18 which is roughly 1.5" taller give or take, my 20 has Bilstein 6112 front coilovers set to 1.9" and Bilstein 5160 in the rear at stock height.
