add SI to hummingbird g3n mega di

my boat came with an ulterra trolling motor attached to a bow mounted mega g3n di. Can side imagining be added via the proper transducer or are there internal differences in the graph ? Can it be networked to the dash unit that has​ SI ? Thanks for any replies. Anything beyond basic gps/fishfinders make me feel stupid.

You cannot add a sonar technology to a unit with a transducer. A DI unit does 2D sonar and Down Imaging===that's it.

You can share a sonar technology from a unit that has it via Ethernet.

Yes both the original 360 and MEGA 360 will add SI to a DI unit, but 360 and SI is all they can do. No 2D sonar, no Down Imaging, and no Temp.

Yes if you want all of it on the same unit and is the best way to prevent cross-talk between two units doing it separately.
That is what the MEGA 360 Y cables are for.

This is what I am doing with a Mega 360 that I added via Y cable to my Helix 9 Mega DI/2D GPS unit and it works quite well. It obviously saves money from having to buy an entire second unit but of course there are times when I'd like to have my map on one unit and 360 on the other as sharing the screen on a Helix 9 gets crowded but going from one function to the other is seamless.

For a single unit, it is a waste of funds since you cannot use the SI piezos in a SI transducer with a MEGA 360 attached.

It REPLACES SI on a SI+ unit and ADDS SI to a DI+ unit. The MEGA 360 uses the SI circuit locations in the unit's transducer port.
