Question on the newer wheel/tire combos you guys are moving to

    BoatMate tandem axle

Don't want to change fenders- does anyone know the tire size you go to when you move from 15 inch wheels to 17 or 18?

Pretty sure the wheels are 5 on 4.5 Ford zero offset, right?

Hank I can't say for sure but I think boatmate uses a wider fender when going with 18 inch wheels, I went with 225 15's I had to redrill fender holes and move the fender up a bit. My opinion is they look much better than the small 14's and are still trailer rubber not car tires.

I ordered 15" on my 2016 when I got it, but they do use wider fenders for the bigger wheels and tires, sure glad I got the 15" wheels and tires

With the 18’s on the Boatmate trailer yes it does require wider fenders. Without wanting to change fenders you will have to stay with a 14-15” wheel setup.

Hear what yall are saying. So if I go to the larger fenders what tire size should you go with on an 18" wheel?

Can't you just go with a bigger rim with a skinny tire?

That was my intention hyperflow, larger rim but lower profile tire. Not sure that's possible from what everyone is saying though

225/45-18 is what came on mine I think. Have to look when I get home to verify.

    ****Correction, they are 255/45-18

The new 18’s that come from factory are a 18x9 wheel with 255-45-18. I’ve seen aftermarket 17’s, 18’s & 20’s using stock fenders, most use a narrower wheel to fit. It’s the width and backspace of the wheel which is critical. There was an old thread here on BBC guy used 20’s with stock fenders.

I switched mine…gotta run spacers and wide fenders “if” you go with the new 18”s. If you use the stock fenders you will have to cut the backboards out….
