    Conquest vs NRX/GLX

    Hi all,

I’ve been fortunate to be accumulating way too many rods lol. I have a few Conquests and a number of NRX and GLX rods. A few Megabass and a couple Dobyns fill out the fishing room.

My Conquests are all MBRs, NRX mostly spinning and jig rods, and the others mostly moving bait rods.

Anyone have thoughts on Conquest sensitivity vs NRX or suitability versus specialized sticks more available in the other lines? I love the MBRs and use them typically when scouting new water. If I find a pattern or two, I’ll usually switch to the specialized rods come tournament days - aligned to that pattern in NRX or other series. I usually try to keep the locker to about fifteen rods on those days.

Anyone else go through these thought patterns and want to discuss? I’m not tied to a specific brand but do tend to gravitate to Loomis and Megabass these days.

I really prefer the NRX spinning rod line as far as feel, touch , and power. Not a big fan of the Conquest spinning line up.

Most of the Conquest Casting rods seem to be on par with NRX rods, maybe a tad lighter but definitely softer than the NRX in my opinion

You know, I thought the same thing about the spinning the one time I used a Conquest SJR. I have just about every NRX spinning rod. Wondered what others thought.

Be interesting to hear your opinion on the new NRX+ in comparison. I’ve heard that “hollow/fragile” description for the old NRX before, and supposedly the new ones don’t have that feel.

Yeah the new spiral wrap gives the plus models a more solid feel. To be fair, I’ve not ever blown up an NRX but you are right about the feel.

Yeah the + series closed the gap for sure and there’s a lot more variety in the series. With the MBRs available in NRX+, I’ve started to wonder if Conquests will go away in time.

I feel the same way I fish NRX AND older GLX rods only. Just me but I cant tell a difference in the two they are both awesome high end rods. I cant see upgrading from these two series sticks besides bragging rights lol.

Good points. My 853 GLX still sees a lot of use. I never got an NRX in that model as I use it for swim jigs and some swimbaits. With a little movement going on, it’s so sensitive I’m not sure I can gain anything.

The difference in price would probably amount to the torzite guides used on the Conquest.

Probably boils down to how people feel about the NRX guides. Some aren’t fond of them.

Love my Conquests, the feel and the torzite guides are worth it for me. Don't get me wrong I have used and liked my NRXs for years but have not held a NRX+

Same here. I’m curious about the new Ned rod and the feel of the MBRs in the plus line.
