My mom called and said My uncle (Godfather) passed. Throat cancer. The man never smoked anything. Good man. We fished together many times in western NY and on Oneida and several times in Canada. The man was a hoot. If you couldn’t laugh with him, you were brain dead. I was up Buffalo way for my dad’s funeral in May. When we were at the lunch after the cemetery service he came up to me and gave me a hug and a look that I’ll never forget. It wasn’t a ‘see you later’ in his eyes, it was ‘Goodbye’. Dammit all.
He was USAF during Vietnam. State side medical guy that worked with eye injuries on returning soldiers. Became an ophthalmologist after that.
