    I Finally Did It!!!!

Yesterday I went out and forced my bank beatin' ass to fish some deep (to me) water. It was hard to do, believe me. I also tried the drop shot for the first time ever. Within a couple minutes I brought in a fish from 23 feet of water. I then proceeded to catch a total of five fish over the next couple hours, all on a drop shot and all in 20 feet of water or more. So it really can be done!! Unfortunately it cost me more $$$ as I had to make an order for more drop shot weights, hooks and plastics this morning already.

Awesome, great to learn some new techniques. Will come in handy, not good being a one trick pony.

Good for you. Walmart has most everything you need for that. Crimp on split shot works fine for dropshot weights.

I need to force myself to do that too. I've had a little success but nothing I'm confident in.

I'm trying this too. Since I've gotten mega360 I'm really trying to focus outside the weed line more. I can't believe all the rocks and chunk rock veins I'm finding out deeper. I also can't believe I'm not catching fish off them

I am doing something similar here in MN. Not as deep as you are fishing, more outside weedlines etc. It was my goal this year to learn how to fish it a bit! I have been having pretty good luck with the drop shot. 15lb braid to 8lb fluoro leader. The tough part for me was learning a knot good enough to not stress me out. Then finding some good hooks!

I can fish deep.but my issue is I want to get it pretty quickly if I am to stick with a deep bite. I by far prefer shallow water. It's just more enjoyable to me. Good on you for trying to be more versatile.

It can be an issue to force yourself out of your comfort zone. It is rewarding when you catch them there, so you always have a plan B. Nicejob!

I wish everyone would do this. It would leave me more banks to fish :-)

I try to get myself to fish deep but have to admit that I am most comfortable as a bank banger.
