    Favorite Use of Ketchup/Catsup

When I was but a wee lad I really enjoyed ketchup and cheese sandwiches on white bread, with Fritos. Had to have extra ketchup to dip the Fritos in. Don't put it on my eggs but I will have some if I have some fried potatoes on the plate.

What things do the rest of you BBCers like it on?

When I was little I would put it on saltine crackers and eat them. Loved it!

I think I only use it on fries. Mix some hot sauce in with it. And I’ve been using more malt vinegar for that over the years. Thinking about it, I don’t really use much ketchup.

I am more of a traditional guy. I use it pretty much only on brats, burgers and fries and occasionally I will put it on breakfast potatoes.

French fries and meatloaf, unlike my wife she puts it on everything! She is from Minnesota and I believe it's the state condiment.

I like to let it sit in the fridge until it goes bad and then throw it in the garbage...

Mom made liver and onions for dinner a couple times per month. Couldn't leave the table till you cleaned your plate. We didn't have a dog but we had ketchup, could not use enough of it on that stuff.

Meat loaf and frozen fries, only. Fresh cut fries are too good to ruin with ketchup.

Use it on most anything fried, burgers and meatloaf also, but never on eggs. We don't cook much meatloaf anymore, which I'm glad.

Back in the 1990's, I was sponsored by Browning, who then owned Lew's reels. The rep group that I worked with also had several other clients, including VMC hooks. This story was told to me by the head of that rep group.

Back then, VMC was a privately owned company...it was owned by wealthy French family. At the time, VMC sponsored David Fritts and in 1993 Fritts won the Classic. To honor Fritts, VMC flew him and his wife, as well as the head of my rep group, to France and put them up in their private chalet in the country and gave a dinner in his honor. The family hired a world renowned French chef to prepare the dinner. Once the dinner was served, as is apparently the custom at these ritzy affairs, the head of the family called for the chef who came to the dining room to receive the applause of the diners. All stood and applauded the chef. As the applause died down, Fritts says to the chef. "Hey, y'all have any ketchup back there?"

You can take the boy out of the country, but...
