    3D or Active Target

Should I go with a 3D transducer or an Active Target?

They are completely different. I don’t think it’s possible to compare and contrast them. It just depends on your skill level, your fishing style, and what you want to accomplish. Certainly most people will master 2D and StructureScan before going on to other directional scanning

Fish wise …3D will show you side and down images of what you have motored past whereas AT will show you front & down real time images of what is currently happening under and in front of the boat.

There are lots of video clips online of both. It’s worth spending a few hours working out what would suit your needs best.

Do you mean Active Target or Active Imaging? Active Imaging is their most recent technology for sidescan/downscan, and also includes 2D sonar. Not sure why Lowrance named it "Active" Imaging , just leads to confusion.
