Garmin Striker Plus 4 Handheld

Hi gentlemen,
im looking for a smaller unit to use on a single person 10’ pontoon and also a 20’ pleasure boat. I ran across this unit on amazon. My question with these units is will they keep real time contact with your vessel as you travel across the lake without adding a transducer. Or would one need to mount a transducer to both vessels?

Yes, Striker units will show GPS position without a transducer connected. But, Striker units are not handheld (require a power cable wired to a battery) and do not have any built-in mapping. To have any topographical detail on the Chart/GPS screen, you must record your own depth data via the built-in QuickDraw mapping.
