90 HP, Wont Go Into Reverse

I got a new to me 2009 Bassboat with a 90hp Yamaha 4 stroke. As I'm loading it onto the trailer today, I overshoot the trailer and hit reverse, It grinds
but won't go into reverse. As I'm messing with it trying to get it into reverse, while in neutral, it goes into forward and wont come out. I was able
to shut the key off. Since I'm at the loading ramp, I manage to get it loaded without the motor running.

Any ideas?? Shift linkage?? What to check first??

False alarm. Linkage.. Thought I'd blown out the bottom end...
