    Skeeter zx200 info

I've been researching newer boats. I have found a 2012 zx200 with 247hrs with a 200sho. How is the sho and are there any concerns at 247hrs? In my research I have found the deck to be 61" wide at pedestal, 75 1/2" wide at console and 87 " long. My main want is deck space. I'm currently in a Ranger 462vs.

Another ? is the bug I'm looking at has dual consoles. Can the console be removed on a 2012?

How are zx trailers? I've read some negative on the trailers.

Is upper 60's mph to be expected?

247 is not alot of hours. I have heard from 2010-2015 alot of powerheads were being blown. The reason i hear was they were made differently than they are made now. ($10,000 for a new one.)

Dual console.... They can be taken out but some fiberglass work will need to be done. These boats are not like some of the other manufactures where there are bolts to take in and out.

EZ Load Trailers (ZX Trailer) Well they speak for themselves. Some people have problems and some never have problems. They are in my opinion not the best trailers but if you maintain it and has been maintained you should be fine.

Upper 60's..... I would say you should see 67-68 depending on alot of variables. If you have never owned a skeeter you will have to play with weight distribution. Very weight sensitive, Prop to Pad and over trimming. But all in all Skeeters are a great boat.
    Enjoy

I will say this also. I was looking at 2013-2015 skeeters and most of the sellers were honest and said they had replaced the power heads. They are the ones who told me $10k to get a new one and installed. Prices I was looking at were anywhere from $35k to $42k. I punted and bought a 2020 being I was scared one might blow again and I was sitting in a 6-7 year old boat at $45k to $52k.
Not trying to scare you away but that was my concern

I owned 2 of the ZX200 and enjoyed them in central Louisiana...50 gallon tank and 66 or so loaded is enough for most anglers...
some of the powerhead issues are because of too much tinkering with engine height or props (also maybe wrong gas and never RingFree a factor also)...
its not going to do 70 loaded.
Have a 2016 SHO 225 on ZX225 now new from factory and probably 300 hours because I fish a lot BUT do annual maintenance at dealer ($300-$400 but its a 22k engine) plus let her warm up a full 3 minutes... did get 6 year warranty...which ends Feb 2022....yes, it seemed powerheads were popping on the HDPI way too much before SHO came along..
actually as a very senior citizen IF I ever got another rig it would be a ZX200 as new as possible...

Yeti don’t misunderstand me. That was my concern. The SHO is a great motor but they really should of had a recall on 2010-2015. I’m sure some were blown by toying with them but most were blown because the heads were not the same as they are now. The ones I talked with blew around 300 hours or so. Like I said, it should of been a factory defect. But hey my 2020 might blow tomorrow. That’s why I decided to get one still under warranty.

From all the research I did back in 2016 I thought they had the issue straightened out by 2012? Definitely not a lot of issues in 2013 on. A lot of the issues were related to warm up and gas getting in the oil. A lot of people with the engines never had an issue.

I sold my 2018 ZX200 a few months ago and it had over 300 hours. Better to have a lot of hours on a well maintained motor than a few on a hardly used motor in my opinion. FYI, my brother had a 2011 SHO 200 with around 100 hours but well maintained and in 2019 it went down with water in the crankcase. Yamaha did replace the power head though.
