    Picking a new Yamaha

My buddy is shopping for a new multi-species boat (probably Alumacraft 175 Competitor Sport). The boats rated for up to 150HP. Hears my question. On a bass boat I’d go for the SHO for sure, but on a Aluminum v hull boat, what are the pros of the SHO versus F series? He fishes small lakes for everything, some tube pulling and recreation with the grand kids. Dealer is recommending a 115SHO, I was thinking the 150F series would be a better towing, trolling, yet good performance.

When I purchased the boat in my signature I did a lot of reading on what I should hang on the back. In 2018 the max horsepower for my boat was 150. At that time AlumaCraft was letting you hang anything on the back and from all the research the F150 was said to be bulletproof. 3 days after my purchase Evenrude purchased AlumaCraft.

At WOT I run 48-50 (before T9.9 kicker) depending on water conditions and load. I would think if he hung an F150 on the back he should hit 52-54 depending on conditions..

Resale is always best when the boat has the MAX HP.

    150F.
It's as bulletproof as an outboard can be.

150F without a doubt. Between the 2 on a bass boat it would be the F, no question. CJ

Not even close, hang the F150, you will be MUCH happier.
