He lives a right down the road from me, been to his house 3 times but never invited to fish. I worked for ole Ma Bell, worked on his phone a couple of times and his son lives behind his house one time. I would see him right regular at Canale's grocery, Home of the Hams, not far from his house.

I learned something here. I though his filming was done in a phosphate pit
in Fla. Many yrs ago it was because it was discussed on film. Billy Westmoreland
filmed in a pit in Fla. Fishing w/him would really be an education. LDS

It might be fun to fish Bill's pond but you have to outrun the attack geese, slip and stick your hand into the open tackle box on his truck tailgate and try to jump from the pier to his Jon boat carrying a size 31 trolling motor battery first.

I have known Bill for many years and have a friend who was his regular fishing partner when they were both younger. I like him a lot as a person not just as a fisherman. I worry about his health and wish he could fish forever. He has been a great spokesperson for the sport. Maybe the best! He is really a good businessman but he has a heart of gold. He has offered to babysit for me several times when my boys were little so I could enjoy myself. He is just awesome to be around. Haven’t seen him since he had his health issues. Oh yeah, I took him up a few times on the baby sitting!

Glad to see this. Only time I was near him, he was rude to kids, unbelievably rude, 2 dads there threatened to pull out of the boat and teach him some courtesy, it was bad, one actually started toward Bill and 2 of my friends stopped him and told him we all have bad days, I wasn't close enough or I would have helped stop him, we all have bad days. It was the legends tournament Bass Pro had on priest when they opened the Nashville store. And we all have bad days, but no matter what, no one should ever be rude to kids and there were several other fishermen (Kevin Van Dam, Jimmy Houston were among them) in the same small parking lot signing autographs, talking fishing, etc. Jimmy Houston was so funny and hilarious and Van Dam stayed til every last kid got an autograph or a picture.

I am not sure why Bill was the way he was, but it sure made me and many others not care much if he ever came around again. And I will say maybe something bad happened or he was sick or something, but no one should ever be rude to kids, especially to kids who are interested in fishing.
