    Calculating a fury 3

    In the mercury slip calculator, would a 24 fury3 be calculated as a 24 or a 25?
Seems like i read it should be punched in as a 25..thanks

While I cannot answer, there are people reporting GPS speeds at RPMs that basically break the slip calculator. So, there's no way a 24 is actually a 24, or, the calculator is simply wrong.

Use the go-fast.com calculator. They have instructions for use on the site.

Mercury doesn't tell you to add anything for the cupped prop like the go-fast one does. Go-fast says to add 1" for a cupped prop but that is for their calculator not for the Mercury one.

That seems to work best for me for comparing numbers to a tempest prop
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Thanks guys. If i enter 24, it comes up like 1.5% slip
At 25 its around 5.9%. Even that seems low

The 4 stroke LU produces lower slip numbers. That's one of the reasons for going down in pitch when compared to the Optis.

Gen 2 optimax lower's give you low slip numbers down as low as 5%. If you look at the two you'll see they are pretty close on the outside. Your going down in pitch to get higher rpm's that seems to be the only way the 4 strokes can get into the higher power band.

Definitely seems to be the new style torque master. My 200 verado has an old style on it and struggles to see less than 12 % with any of the props ive tried

Somehow the 24 fury has a better holeshot than the 25 fury but almost the same top end on my boat. 24 fury 6220rpms@79 and 25 fury at 6080rpms@80.5. Slip numbers are super low. 2021 merc 4s. Not complaining tho

BKP, I think your numbers confirm that the 4 Stroke has it most HP at the upper limits. I still have yet to get my 23 Fury to 6,100 on my Ranger. May send it off for work this off season.

It's got a better hole shot because the motor spins the smaller 24" prop up faster. The 25" prop is faster because it's got more pitch and the same slip numbers which for both come out as 6% which is were a Gen 2 TM should be. This kind of proves that the small prop turning more RPM's is faster is BS.
