    Spinning/Top Water

Am I the only top water nut who likes throwing on spinning rods? (super spook jrs, poopers, WP75)

I'm in the market for a new set up after a mishap with the rod I was using, any suggestions? I like a 6'10-7' rod.

    Thanks!

I never use a spinning rod for top water.

My choices. First one is 2" shorter than you asked, St Croix Avid AVS 68MXF. #2 St Croix Avid AVS 70MF. I do think the extra fast action will work spooks and poppers better

St Croix 68MXF is great for topwaters.

Interesting, I've always been convinced I need a moderate flex rod for top water trebles.

I use an old 6 ft all star hvy action spinning rod. Topwaters, jerkbaits. Fun to use. 6-8# mono, maybe 20# braid.

I ended up picking up the Daiwa Kage 6'10 model. Waiting for it to arrive, I'm looking forward to giving it a run.

I'd look at Dobyns Fury Series. I like a spinning reel for popR style baits. You might take a look at Ark Rods.

I use 6'10" medium okuma evx for smaller top waters and jerkbaits. Seems to work well, braid to leader.

dobyns fury is a good choice. But a Dobyns Coly series is a good choice and might save $40 or so. You don't really need as much sensitivity because the bite is visual. Just a thought.

Fish poppr's on spinning all the time. It's a medium 7 ft Dobyns for me too.
