Good day, I purchased a mint condition 2017 Triton 18TRX with a 200hp SHO last summer. It came with a Tempest Plus prop with a 25P. I'm not getting the hole shot nor the performance I was expecting. Anyone know what the best prop would be for this application?

It's running around 5500 rpm. A friend suggested that I lower the motor as it is sitting higher than normal. I wasn't very comfortable with adjusting the manual jackplate so it is currently at the dealer. They will be testing it on the water and contacting both Yamaha and Triton to determine optimum height and best prop. With regards to the performance, I can't get it to exceed 45 mph no matter the trim position.
Yeah something is way off. Should be seeing 64-68 mph.

I don't know the lower unit gear ratio on your SHO but if it is 1.75 you could Run a 22 or 23 pitch Tempest Plus and get higher rpms which will put you into the power band more.
Lowering the engine will lower your rpms and speed.
If your rpms ( tachometer ) and speed ( gps ) readings are correct you must have a lot of slip.

Lowering of the motor was suggested as the prop was not completely submersed coming out of the hole shot (based on my explanation to the Yamaha tech). The rpm's would jump from 5000 to 7000 with minimal advancement. The dealer said that the Merc props do not sit well on the Yamaha lower unit. There is a slight gap between the prop and the body of the lower unit that could affect performance.
