    In dash depth finder

What have ya'll used to take the place of the original Lowrance depth finder in the dash?
I was thinking of getting a 5" HB and epoxy the transducer in the bildge.
What are the options you guys have come up with?

I made a new dash panel from HDPE and got rid of the Speedo and put a 7” HB in the dash of my 201.

Mounted a Hook 5 in my 19SS with puck in the bilge. Works pretty good. Gives me good depth readings on plane.

Jeff, your reply got me thinking, if I can get my X51 working I may just go that direction. All I really need is a depth finder that reads while I'm up on plane

Took out the old X51. Going to cut a piece of smooth black plastic material (HDPE?) to fit inside the opening.

AMP Marine sells covers, or you can cut one out of a cheap Walmart cutting board. I bought mine from AMP, but decided I didn't like the black. Covered them with blue carbon fiber vinyl.

I was thinking of the cutting board option. I think the black Is a good base color and was thinking of putting vinyl of some color on it.
Steve, what unit did you install? I'm leaning towards HB as they make one that is small enough to fit .
My goal is to have a depth finder that looks good and is functional when up and running. Planning on installing the transducer/puck in the bildge.
My main electronics are Lowrance HDS's

I just have the blank panel with an 1198 Bird hanging on the right side of the console.

Used 1/4 ABS behind the hole, stainless hardware, then mounted a RAM ball mount to the ABS for a 7" graph.

I just removed the gauge pod out of my 285 & mounted an Elite 12 in its cavity. I plan on building a proper pod to flush mount the graph into so it will look more finished.

I went with a Hummingbird Piranhamax4. Made a backing plate out of black cutting board. Installed the transducer in the bilge.
Works great for what I wanted (depth reading while running)
