I don’t use that particular system. Instead, I bought the gas cap adapter for the generator, then configured a fuel hose to work with the gas tanks for my outboard. Works the same, my Honda 2200 will run a couple of days on 5 gal depending on the load. Having a built in fuel pump and the ability to add a separate tank is the main reason we went with the Honda. Yep, you can use the Altima fuel cap or similar. Then get a connector for the fuel tank with just the barbed outlet, and length of fuel line. No bulb needed.
