    Question Tach issue

I First off have to say that I love this forum. Everyone is so helpful and forthcoming with info. Thank you all in advance. I have a boat that sat for 5 years. got it running but the tach is way out of calibration. At idle it is sitting at 5000rpm. I can assure you it is not idling at 5000rpm LOL! Anyone have any ideas? I posted in the general topics as well. Forgot to post my serial number of the motor - G101106

Is it bouncing or steady at 5k?

Look at the adjustment screw at the back. More than likely on the wrong setting.

If its bouncing, I've fixed 2 bouncing tachs by moving the same dial back n forth, resting it at the original position
