Yep,must boat winching is just a couple feet or less. If you really want to go crazy you could unwind it all, and rewind it on old end first then you'd have basically new strap at the hook.
I always carry 2 extra 1” cargo rachet straps. You can use them to get the boat home if any of the straps fail.
