River/Lakes Within an hour of Pontiac...

Hey hey...Need some guidance gents. Looking for a QUIET area (river/lake) that is OUT away from the masses within an hour'sh from Bloomfield Hills/Pontiac. I typically either head north (TC) or will only fish LSC for smallies due to the smaller inland lakes (North Metro Detroit) over run by idiot people at the boat launches. So I am reaching out to you alls to find a couple of out of the way areas that I can get some peace and maybe catch a fish no matter the species. Boat/Canoe/Wade are all open options. Up north I got into small 50-100 acre lakes a few years back and man they are fun to fish and maybe see a kayak or two the whole trip. Thanks for your input.

There are a laundry list of lakes within 30 minutes

    Pontiac
    Cass
    Orchard
    Sylvan
    Union
    Wolverine
    Maceday

    Going a little further out
    Orion

Michangler....Lakeville is probably the closest lake I have gone with the lesser amount of problems.

Kent and Stoney creek are no wake and usually fish pretty decent.

Heron Lake by Mount Holly is a electric motor only lake. Great fishing.

dartag1829 and MichAngler, question about electric motor only lakes in Michigan... are you able to go on these lakes with a gas main motor as long as you do not fire it up? I only ask because I'm curious, I've only ever been on one lake like this and it was in MN with my brother-in-law and we could go out as long as we didn't fire up the main motor and only used the trolling motor the entire time.

Anybody know how Lake Orion is this time of year? Never fished it before and want to try it out.
Or any lake near it that’s better?
    looking for bass.

    thanks guys!

One of my favorite inland lakes. However, it gets real busy during the summer. I recommend trying some night fishing!

Great lake to catch Big Bass. You can get them shallow or offshore. Find the weed beds. Lot's of pike to take your lures. Only real problem are the Wake Surf boats. There are a ton of them along with other boat traffic. I recommend fishing weekdays.

Thanks guys! Just got back from there and caught a few decent bass and one smaller pike. Went early to avoid the rush.
Swimbaits were key today, couldn’t get a single hit on a frog near pads.
Nice lake though, I will be back.

Unfortunately most of these lakes are busy. As stated Kent and Stony have a speed limit which keeps the wake boats and jetskiers off it. Orion seems to be one of the most consistently good lakes in my experience. White Lake is probably my second favorite.
