2005 mercury optimax

I'm looking at purchasing a 2005 triton sf21 that has a mercury 225 optimax and just want general knowledge about this engine, problems, pros, cons, dos and donts.. thanks

hit up the merc forum I beleive your motor is a 3L

Aside from getting all the info youl ever need from that section. their going to say to make sure to get a history print out of the motor to confirm hours and any / all faults on it.

and you van review the FAQ section for the motor it will have everything you need for the do's and don'ts.... as far as what plugs to run, service intervals, little tips and tricks such as don's cocktail for fuel treatment. what plugs to run, what oil to run, seasonal upkeep etc.


All said and done. Get the motor checked by a dealer via the computer they plug into the motor get a psi test done and all that fun stuff and youl know what shape the motor is in.
